חוּש

חוּשII (b. h.; v. preced.) (to feel, press, 1) to feel pain, be affected. Erub.54a חָש בראשו if one has a headache; ח׳ בגרונו one whose throat is affected; a. fr. 2) to apprehend, consider. Y.Peah V, 18d bot. וחש לומרוכ׳ but then he reconsidered saying Ex. B. s. 3 אל תָּחוּש do not mind it. 3) to be anxious, quick, to hurry. Y.Yeb.VIII, 9c top (play on ח̇וש̇ים … ב̇ע̇ר̇א, 1 Chr. 8:8) ח̇ש̇ כנמר וב̇יא̇ר̇וכ׳ he was quick like a panther and made clear 4) to think, be silent, v. חָשָׁה.V. חָשַׁש.
